Permitted demolition is expected to begin this week at 5035 N Lincoln Ave., formerly the site of the Boomers restaurant and various other commercial properties.
The zoning change that was approved under the previous administration in October 2018 was a Type 1 zoning change, which ties the property to the specific building plans submitted with the zoning map amendment. The new owner intends to build to plan, constructing two new three-and-a-half story, 12-unit residential apartment buildings, served by 38 parking spaces and including two units designated as affordable housing.
Ald. Vasquez has met with the new owner to discuss possible public art components to the new construction, and looks forward to productive conversations going forward!
