Final Community Meeting on Catalpa Plaza on May 23rd!

Rendering of Catalpa pedestrian Plaza design

On Thursday, May 23rd the 40th Ward Office will be hosting a community open house to unveil the final design of the pedestrian plaza on Catalpa Ave!

Our office is partnering with the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) to conduct a plaza improvement project on Catalpa Avenue from Clark Street to Ashland Avenue. The project will create a pedestrian plaza by closing Catalpa between Clark and Ashland to traffic, and turning it into a beautiful neighborhood destination where the community can gather together, host events, and browse the local farmer’s market during the summer season. You can view more about the project on CDOT’s website.

This open house is the culmination of a series of community meetings during which neighbors have given feedback on the plaza’s design, and how it can best serve the neighborhood. We look forward to unveiling the final design!

The open house will take place at St. Gregory (1609 W Gregory). There will be exhibits of the design displayed, and representatives from our office and the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be on hand to answer questions from the community.

Come anytime between 6:00-7:30pm to view displays, ask questions, and learn more about the future of the plaza!
