Help Still Needed for Newly Arrived Asylum-Seekers

The 20th District Mutual Aid team is serving 42 migrants at the 20th district police station which includes 15 babies/toddlers + a very pregnant mama.

We can use help in these areas:

  • Donations: women’s S and M leggings, men’s S and M sweatpants, diapers of all sizes, non-perishable snacks (fruit packs, goldfish, applesauce packs, etc.). These donations should go directly to LTC (5413 N Lincoln Ave)
  • Daily LTC in-person volunteer – we are finding our days chaotic ensuring everyone receives basic needs. The needs of this volunteer will change daily and would often require in-person assistance at LTC  > Sign Up Here.
  • Restaurant Donation Outreach – we would like to reach out to local businesses and restaurants for meal support. Our first meeting to coordinate these efforts will be this week. Fill out this form to help us find the best time for this call. Prior sales experience is a plus!
  • Arepa Cooking Class – a few of our new neighbors have prior cooking experience and want to host a cooking class! If you are interested in attending (4 max), this class would be held in the evenings on a Tuesday (date TBD). You would make arepas for the migrants at the station and leave with a new cooking skill. We ask that if you attend, you help financially contribute to the ingredients necessary for this class > Sign Up Here
