The new Peterson/Ridge Metra station, the newest addition to Metra’s UP-N line, was completed in May 2024. We’re thrilled to be welcoming a new transit option to the 40th Ward that will better connect our community to downtown and other neighborhoods across the city! The station was originally proposed over a decade ago, and it has taken the collective and dedicated efforts of many city and state legislators to bring it into reality.

Scope & Design

Peterson Ridge Metra Station

Metra completed the Peterson/Ridge station, a new station/stop on the UP-N line at Peterson Avenue, on May 20th, 2024. The station includes an elevated platform and warming house above Peterson Avenue, with entrances on both the north and south sides of the street. A small drop-off and disabled parking circle drive will be installed north of Peterson Avenue, with nose-in parking spaces running along Ravenswood Avenue south of Peterson Avenue.

  • Connect transit riders to downtown, city neighborhood, and the suburbs
  • Encourage transit-oriented development on some of the nearby side streets and along Clark Street
  • Drive more foot traffic to local businesses

Design Exhibits

Project Features

  • Two new six-vehicle platforms for travel in both directions but with an emphasis on downtown-bound traffic
  • The south-bound platform will include the station building with both sides featuring warming shelters
  • 49 vehicle parking spaces, five of which will be ADA compliant, around the facility
  • New drop-off and pick-up area with a turnaround for cars with bicycle parking
