Winnemac Park Improvement Project

Winnemac Park is undergoing a $1.5M improvement project, including the renovation of the Winnemac Park Baseball Diamond. Local community input has informed the design plan, which will include the grading and replacement of the existing infield with a new artificial turf baseball infield and new stormwater improvements. By incorporating stormwater mitigation improvements, the field will drain water properly, and minimize the impact on availability for field play.  In addition to the new field, batting cages, player benches, sports lighting, ADA accessible pathways and bleachers will round-out the new amenities coming to the baseball diamond bookended by two schools.  

Additional improvements include renovations to the two existing tennis courts that will provide for new ADA pathway paving, improved drainage, and new pickleball striping on the east tennis court.

Project Timeline

Construction is slated to begin in the first quarter of 2024, with work to be completed by the end of the year.

Construction Updates

8/12/24: The Park District has scheduled fencing to be installed the week of August 19th, in preparation for the new turf field installation! This phase of the project will also include tree protection fencing and stormwater preparation. Excavation will begin shortly after the area is fenced. 

5/31/24: Milling of the tennis courts began in May 2024. Construction fencing is expected to go up in mid-June as the Winnemac Turf Field project project gets underway. The Park District anticipates substantial competition by November 2024, with the project finished by the end of 2024.
