The 40th Ward is proud to be home to so many talented artists and arts organizations. This year, the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) awarded a number of those artists and organizations grants through its programs, and we’re shouting them out below:
The CityArts Program
The CityArts Program provides general operating support to Chicago-based, arts and culture-focused, non-profit organizations. This year, the following organizations from the 40th were selected for funding:
- Arts & Business Council of Chicago
- Barrel of Monkeys (operating as Playmakers Laboratory)
- Chicago Cultural Alliance
- Chicago Dance Crash NFP
- Experimental Sound Studio
- Gerber Hart Library and Archives
- Hell in a Handbag Productions
- Khecari
- La Caccina, Inc.
- National Cambodian Heritage Museum & Killing Fields Memorial
- The Neo-Futurists
The Individual Artist Program
The Individual Artist Program (IAP) provides project grants to Chicago-based, individual artists. This year, these 40th Ward artists were awarded funding through the IAP:

- Ashley Otis
- Melanie Vitaterna
- Amy Wurtz
The Chicago Arts Recovery Program
The Chicago Arts Recovery Program provided grants to Chicago-based, arts and culture-focused non-profits to support the arts and culture sector’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the following organizations from the 40th Ward were awarded funding:

- Chicago Industrial Arts and Design Center, NFP
- Experimental Sound Studio
- The Neo-Futurists
