On Friday, September 12th, we hosted a meeting of the Committee on Immigrant and Refugee Rights to discuss the escalation of federal enforcement in Chicago over the past few weeks. If you missed the hearing, you can view a recording below:
For the past few weeks, CIRR staff have been speaking with city council members and community organizations in LA and DC to learn trends and best practices to prepare for an increase in immigration enforcement and a potential deployment of National Guard in Chicago. At Friday’s hearing, CIRR staff presented on what we learned, and how Chicago can prepare and respond to the continued presence and escalation of federal agent in Chicago.
