On Wednesday, March 12th, we held a community meeting regarding the upcoming Peterson/Ridge Metra station. Representatives from Metra gave a presentation on the station’s progress, including an explanation of construction delays that led to the station opening being pushed back, and the timeline for remaining construction.
If you weren’t able to make the meeting, you can view a recording below! To view Metra’s presentation in full, you can download a copy of the presentation below this video.
PLEASE NOTE: At 0:12:00 there is a four-minute break in the meeting as Metra representatives switched their display to an updated version of the meeting presentation. Please skip to 0:16:17 to view the rest of the meeting uninterrupted.
The station is projected to open on May 20th, 2024. Our office is meeting with Metra weekly to ensure the project stays on schedule, and will communicate any further updates via our website and newsletter.
Our office will also follow up with the team at Metra on several issues that came up during the meeting, including the delay of the planned signal at the entrance of the station, the plan for landscaping maintenance, and what follow-up community engagement efforts from Metra will look like. In anticipation of the station opening, we are working with the Committee for Pedestrian and Traffic Safety and the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) to assess pedestrian safety in the area, and make a plan for improvements. We are also working with the CDOT, the Department of Finance (DOF), and the City Clerk’s office, to roll out the planned additions and extensions of Residential Permit Parking (RPP) zones surrounding the station (you can see an explanation and map of the planned RPP zones on our blog).
