President Trump may want to abuse his office by sending military troops into our city to terrorize our people––but we don’t have to let him. If the president sets federal troops on our city, we will fight back with every tool available to us. We will not sit back and allow him to terrorize the people of Chicago.
I’m grateful to Mayor Johnson for reaffirming our commitment to protecting Chicagoans from this unlawful and unwarranted invasion.
We don’t yet know what next week will bring, but we know this: Chicago is a Welcoming City, and it’s going to stay that way. We will stand together to fight for the safety and freedom of our people, and there is nothing the President can do to stop us.
