We are deeply grateful to all our neighbors who took the time to engage and provide feedback on the zoning change request at 2648-58 W. Lawrence Ave from B3-2 to B2-3 to allow for a new 5-story residential building with ground floor retail space and 37 units, 20% of which will be affordable.
Feedback from neighbors on this proposal was majority positive, with strong support for the building’s added residential density and affordable units. The developer will also incorporate additional feedback from neighbors:
- Building designs will be updated from electric-ready to 100% electric.
- Building designs will be updated to incorporate requirements of the proposed Bird-friendly Building Design Ordinance.
- Building designs will be updated to be compatible with black iron to allow for a restaurant tenant (if interested).
- A mural will be added to the building facing Gross Park following completion.
Hearing the community’s feedback and considering these additional changes, Alder Vasquez will support the zoning change at this time. Thank you again to all the neighbors who took the time to engage—your participation is what helps improve our community zoning process every time!
